Education Starts from Home

“Education is the most important tool to change the world”

- Nelson Mandela

Where does the education starts from? is the most frequent question among the millennials. There had always been myth regarding the child’s education. Some believe that education starts when the child first enrols in the school. But when we turn around the glorious pages of Indian history, we found that education of child starts from his birth. In Indian culture, it is rightly said “Mother is your first teacher and Home is your first school”. But unfortunately, we lack far behind in obeying this principle. This doesn’t mean that it contradicts the Mother-Son relation. In fact, I would say it is one of the purest relations of this world but it somewhat lacks to lay the foundation for the future. In fact, these are those parents who may not sleep the whole night if their child is sick, do not eat if their child is hungry, do not drink if their child is thirsty.
But what we need for toddlers is ethics, Moral, Discipline, quality learning, etc. Instead for this, parents’ hand mobile phones to the toddler if he/she is crying, make them sit in front of T.V. set and many other things which starts to ruin them. It is important for us to note this are always the short-term solution to the problem.
One of the greatest examples is the relation of the great Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his mother Jijamata. It’s the best example for new parents who are raising their kids. The teachings of Jijamata ultimate lead to establishment of swaraj. It’s the dream of every parent to see their child become successful in their life. For this, their teachings are the building steps.
Dos for the parents:
# Spend more time with their growing      kids so that they are more connected with you.
# Teach them ethics, morality and discipline from a very young age.
# Give them basic knowledge regarding body parts, colours, veggies, alphabets, etc.
# Take them to short trips and visits.
# Encourage healthy habits among the kids regarding eating, cleanliness, etc.
# Let them have proper sleep
# Play with them
# Love them a lot
# Dos for the parents:
Don’ts for the parents:
# Don’t put extra pressure on kids regarding studies
# Don’t allow them to operate mobile phones for long hours.
# Don’t inculcate bad habits among kids
# Never leave them alone at young age
Let me end this article by telling you a short story-
Once there was a young boy named shyam, who used to live in a small village with his mother. Once he brought a toy from his friend’s house without asking him. He showed the toy to his mother and his mother smiled. Considering it to be good, he started stealing objects from his friends. With increase in his age, his stealing would also increase. His habit of small stealing eventually brought him in black market which made him a lunatic criminal. Due to this, he was ordered death. When he was asked for his last wish he said, “I would like to meet my mother”. Her mother used to stay in the same village. She was brought. Shyam, when her mother arrived, immediately hugged her and later bit on her neck. Due to this her mother cried in pain. When inquired about this act Shyam said, “If my mother would have scold me for stealing and would have slapped me then and there, I would not have been a criminal”
And here you came to know that “Education starts from home.”
